This space has been a GIFT for me to find, today, as I expand into the potential that the women on Substack carry. This is an incredible idea that unites us all, gives voice to that which is meaningful, and pulls us into the potential that is The Great Unknown.

Your daughters intuition is uncanny.

We are living at an unprecidented time where the very structure of our mind is up for grabs. Not only what we think, but HOW we think is shifting, potentially being hijacked by a collective mind (AI) that we (falsely) believe is more capable than our own individual mind.

But AI is regurgitating, so it can be great for organizing (not my personal strong suit), and it can even help think things through, but from my experience, it often clouds me with more noise than it clarifies.

I love this topic, and it's too bad that I only found you now. But I definitely look forward to contributing in the future!

Also, maybe this has been addressed and I missed it but how do we join the calls?

Be proud of me, y'all -- I'm actually writing *before* the due date!

I can't wait to hear what everyone else has to say, too. Last month's salon was so much fun, and such a fulfilling way to spend a mid-morning before work.

What a fantastic topic. I may have a conflict on the 20th, but will try to make it. My gut clenches daily about AI, so I can't wait to hear everybody's thoughts!

This is a BIG one, but it feels like something I could potentially speak adjacently on. Is there a word count?

The word count limit is 1,000 words, Florence.

OK, so now I will take another break from "the book" and write something for the Salon :-) I think I have to do it!

Not sure if you got my reply email yesterday. Wanted to let you know I got so excited the day my "essay" arrived fully formed in a flash as I watched my grandson climb a tree in my yard. I meant to send it to you, and then since I was writing on my stack, I forgot and clicked share.

I posted it yesterday. I'll jump in on the next one, depending on the topic. But, if you read my post, then feel free to add some of the comments to your discussion, if you think it worth getting the convo started. Have fun!

You are welcome to go ahead and submit through the submission form even if you have published. I'm afraid I won't be able to read anything outside of submissions because the submission reviews take up all my time (I take my curation role seriously). But I'm thrilled the prompt inspired a pst and even if you don't submit I look forward to your conversation and contributions in the salon.

Thank you! I will do that.

Just the text, or can I include illustrations? IF you have time to answer...

It needs to be a link that is a Google doc. The instructions are in the submission form.

Beautiful, Lisa-Marie,

As I was reading, I was thinking about the things I love doing (painting with watercolors, for one) and how I would never give them up for an AI-generated piece of art, even though I enjoy creating images with AI.

Getting lost in what I'm doing, playing with the layers of colors (I didn't quite have the patience for watercolors when I was younger 😉).

Finding the balance between what we want AI to do/not do is such a personal journey.

I felt a little like I was in each of the places you mentioned as you described them.

This is such a much-needed conversation.

Thank you

You actually just made me think of something, Kim. With the exception of vibe-coding, maybe we keep all those activities within which we find “flow.”

I took a long walk this afternoon in a park near our house and reveled in the trees that were changing colors...I stopped and noticed a leaf that was hanging in mid-air -- caught, I think, on the thread of a spider web-- that's something AI can't do: have its breath taken away at the beauty in the Universe.

🙌🏼 yes! this!

My husband is in close relation to all our plants. Though I haven't made it past the first chapter yet, he still encourages me to read "The Secret Life of Plants". The book's premise is around the spirituality of plants, and that, when we notice them and adore them, they become more beautiful all because of our attention.

Now there's something AI can't do!
